Robert Batho

Robert Batho was brought up in Cornwall. He was sponsored by the aero engine division of Rolls-Royce Ltd to read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford and then, after a spell as a training officer with them, returned to Cornwall and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor (in 1973) by taking a Reading University external degree in Estate Management.

He worked as a partner in a firm of estate agents and surveyors in St Austell until his partner retired in 1986. He then set up on his own account, dealing solely with professional surveying work throughout Cornwall.

He accepts instructions from a variety of private and institutional clients, and has developed contacts with the major firms of litigation solicitors in Devon and Cornwall, as well as others further afield. He has regularly been appointed as a dispute resolver through the RICS Dispute Resolution Service, and sits as a chairman of the Southern Rent Assessment Panel and Leasehold Valuation Tribunal.

Robert is married, with two daughters and three grandchildren.
